Artists in Residence

Tom LaRock Studios

After retiring from a career in Mechanical Engineering in 2013, Tom pursued his childhood passion for painting. Moving to New York City, he immersed himself in the techniques of representational drawing and painting, benefiting from the city’s rich artistic environment and resurgence in realistic art.

Tom joined a studio in the Flat Iron District, led by his son, master artist Joshua LaRock. For three years, he received invaluable exposure and training in classical methods.

In 2016, he returned to The Woodlands, Texas, committing to full-time study and work in creating oil paintings that embody the realistic and classical styles of contemporary and historical masters. His goal is to produce art that transcends time, telling stories that prompt contemplation of the beauty, truth, and goodness in people and the world.

In 2020, Tom opened his Atelier (art school) and was the first artist to take up residence at the Epic Creative Co-Op. He runs a school for aspiring artists who wish to study in the classical art style. Click here to learn more about Tom LaRock and see his portfolio of amazing art.
