Summer 2025 Minibot Workshop: Building Brain Power
Through Hands-On Robotics
This summer, Epic Creative Co-op buzzed with the energy of young inventors during our three-session Minibot Workshop series, hosted in collaboration with the innovative minds at The Minibot Academy. Over the course of three separate week-long workshops, students ages 6 through high school seniors dove into the world of robotics—guided by Founder Ms. Rosa and her dedicated assistants, Jeffrey and Janet.
What Made This Workshop Different?
Unlike traditional robotics classes that rely on pre-designed kits and step-by-step instructions, our Minibot Workshops are designed to do more than just build robots—they build brains. Students worked both independently and in teams, using Legos and their imaginations to create unique robotic inventions. Every project was an opportunity to experiment, fail, and try again—sparking the kind of deep learning that comes from real problem-solving, not rote memorization.
The Neuroscience of
Learning by Doing
At the heart of our program is a mission to integrate neuroscience with robotics. Why? Because true expertise isn’t just about following instructions—it’s about thinking deeply, adapting to new challenges, and learning from mistakes. Our workshops are structured to shift students’ brain states through entrainment, helping them focus and think creatively—without relying on medication.
When students are challenged with tough tasks, their brains strengthen neural pathways, adding myelin (think of it as insulation for brain wiring) to help information travel faster. This is how we help young creators learn faster and think deeper, promoting both individuality and teamwork.
Moments of Insight:
The Power of “Brain Quiet”
One of the most fascinating aspects of our approach is creating space for what we call “brain quiet.” Before a student has an “aha!” moment, there’s often a period of neural silence—the thinking part of the brain quiets down, and the creative side takes over. It’s a state similar to the moments just before sleep, when ideas seem to appear out of nowhere. In our workshops, we foster these moments on demand, encouraging students to look inward and make new connections.
Learning Beyond the Kit
Building a robotics kit might be fun, but it rarely challenges the brain’s prefrontal cortex—the part responsible for higher-order thinking and problem-solving. Our students don’t just follow instructions; they learn to think flexibly, switching between ideas and approaches, and developing true cognitive agility. This is the hallmark of expertise, and it’s what sets our workshops apart.
A Community of Young Creators
Throughout the summer, we watched students of all ages collaborate, experiment, and grow—not just as budding engineers, but as creative thinkers. Whether working solo or in groups, each participant had the chance to experience the thrill of discovery, the frustration of failure, and the satisfaction of breakthrough.
We’re excited to share some of our favorite moments from the workshops—check out the gallery below for photos of our students in action!

Thank You to Our Team and Families
A huge thank you to Ms. Rosa, Jeffrey, Janet, and all the families who made this summer’s workshops a success. We can’t wait to see what our young inventors will create next!
Stay tuned for future minibot workshops and opportunities to join our growing community of creators.
